Bollywood has been coming forward to support social causes- be it through films or by directly getting involved in social causes that matter. Today it was heart-warming to see Rang De Basanti actor Kunal Kapoor come forward to award NGOs who were able to raise crores through a crowdfunding platform. Kunal Kapoor, who is also an entrepreneur in the social development space and co-founder of Ketto awarded NGOs for raising close to Rs. 2.11 cr for the ‘Book 6 Million Smiles’ campaign, in association with BookASmile.
Kunal’s Ketto along with BookASmile – the charity initiative of BookMyShow conducted India’s biggest ever online fundraising event for NGOs in India. These winning NGOs are going to now use these funds to further propel their initiatives making it more sustainable. Through this campaign, people are now more aware of the work by these NGOs in the space of - Digital literacy and skill building (gainful employment causes), animal welfare, senior citizens, creative arts (can include music, arts, sports, theatre, etc.), rural development and environment.
An overwhelmed Kunal commented, “All of us at Ketto are grateful to BookASmile and feel proud to have been a part of this historic initiative that has breached new frontiers in the Indian social sector and created new possibilities for NGOs. As it is said goodness is the only investment that never fails, so let all of us stand together and support different social causes for a better tomorrow.”
