Sh. Rakesh Sharma, Deputy Director (Engg); posted at AIR Mathura, is going to retire from the service on 31st January 2018. Sh. Sharma joined the department in 1978 at AIR Jalandhar as E.A. In beginning he worked at High Power Transmitters at Jalandhar, Khampur and Nangli (Delhi) and AIR Mathura. In 1988 he was promoted to the post of Assistant Engineer and contributed as Installation Officer in North Zone and completed the installation work of Radio Station at Jhalawar in 1990.
In his long journey in the department, Sh. Sharma worked in Tape Recording Unit and Studio Design section in AIR Directorate for a long period and got promotion to Assistant Director (E) in 2004. He also served at AIR Itanagar and thereafter selected as a faculty member for Staff Training Institute (Tech) (now known as NABM) New Delhi.
He worked in the Institute for five years and contributed in the departmental training activities, especially in the field of AIR Studio Equipment, Air Conditioning Systems and some other subjects allotted to him. He was promoted to the post of Deputy Director (Engg) in the year 2011 but in view of his hard work and dedication, he was retained in the Institute. Besides the training activities, he also contributed in administrative work of examination cell and later on as head of office (declared by ADG). He was awarded with "Best Trainer Award" for the year 2012, under Akashvani Annual Awards of All India Radio.
Sh. Sharma again joined AIR Mathura in Oct 2013 and continued till his superannuation. During the tenure he was given additional charge of AIR Agra and DMC Mathura. At every stage, he discharged his duties efficiently with dedication. He is known as hardworking Engineer and a soft spoken person. As head of office, he maintained the station very well, kept all the branches integrated. The staff of AIR Mathura station wishes him happy and healthy retired life.
