As our loved ones age, they require a lot of love, care, attention and understanding. It is important to understand unspoken words and take care of their health and growing needs, to make them feel wanted and comfortable.
India’s leading adult diaper brand – Friends, has recently released a short film 'Paanch Minute Aur' highlighting one of the biggest issues faced by aged people, something that most of us don’t even consider a problem and accept it as a norm of life. The film opens up with a kind banter between a young boy and his grandfather, where the old man is seen fussing about his grandson taking the load of work resulting in him not able to get a good night’s sleep. As the video progresses, we see the old man himself lacks a peaceful sleep because of his weak bladder. Doesn’t it look like a scene straight from someone or the other that we all know? While many of us may feel that it’s okay to get up at 4-5 times a night to address ‘nature’s call’, what we do not realize that it might be wearing up the person concerned and could have consequences as bad as depression. In a study commissioned by Nobel Hygiene, 87% of Urologists mentioned that disturbed sleep pattern in elders with incontinence leads to depression. ‘Paanch Minute Aur’ addresses this issue in a very subtle and emotional manner. Incidentally this year the theme of ‘World Health Day’ is depression and doctors across the globe are starting an awareness program, which will direct its focus on the medical condition.
Created and conceptualized by Thought Pot Studios, Paanch Minute Aur has been scripted by Ravi Kulsreshtha & Anurag Parab and directed by Ravi Kulsreshtha. The 2 minute 13 seconds short film ends with the grandfather finding a package of ‘Friends’ adult diapers in the bathroom, indicating it was placed there by his grandson. The film concludes with the old man finally enjoying an uninterrupted good-night sleep.
