Shah Rukh Khan has brought to Indian television a concept which is changing the way people perceive ideas – small or big. More than him, the speakers on TED Talks India Nayi Soch, who he has been compassionately introducing and interacting with on the show per episode. Not surprisingly when Mithali Raj was introduced by him, he also took the liberty to congratulate the Captain of India’s Women Cricket Team for being a spectacular player and mentor for her team.
The actor also shared his special interest in the women’s matches because he feels that women have empowered him and it is necessary to be by their side when they break the stereotype. He added, “I stay up all night whenever there's a women team playing a match.”
Watching her lead the team to success and fame, an impressed SRK quipped to Mithali, “I want to see you as the Coach of Men’s Cricket Team one day.” She replied with a smile, “I always want to give my best.”
Mithali Raj who shared her experiences as a Captain and Player of a Women’s team and the country’s slow-paced growth of adequate infrastructure. She said, “More facilities will lead to more horizons opening up for women cricket team.” Seconding this thought, SRK pondered, “Only a sportsperson deals with what you truly call a pressurizing situation.”
Mithali Raj during her interactive 'talk' with host SRK on TED Talks India Nayi Soch shared about winning and losing in a match. She said, "It is easy said than done. When you are on the field, and everyone is looking up to you and the entire team for bringing back the winning trophy, it is not just about the game. So it is necessary for us to stay focussed and while we all have our own ways to ensure we give our best on the field, I use reading books as my distraction from pressure. It does help me to keep calm and encourage a good performance."
Playing his usual witty self, he quickly brought a light-hearted moment to the stage by bowling in front of the Captain, asking if he did well.
