All India Radio, Cuttack Bags Merit Certificate for Musical Production MADHUJHARA VASUNDHARA

The feature is well researched and derives from the Sukti Ranga by Pandit Jagannath Panda. Prithvi and Prakriti are the basic matriachal elements which are indiscriminately explored and exploited. Even a sukta i.e. a Vedic hymn describes the Earth as 'kshata vikshata gatri', which bespeaks the injuries that have been inflicted on mother Nature even before the Vedic times.
In this musical production, a plant represents mother Nature and not only narrates the saga of
devastation, but also suggests measures to protect the ecological balance. Through the anecdote of an
obstinate king who was madly obsessed with the idea of a wooden temple and ordered for felling all the trees in his kingdom. As a result the rivers went dry, lands went barren, clouds disappeared and
atmosphere got poisoned. The king was shocked and realized his folly.
The feature ends with the Vedic message that there is nectar everywhere: soil, water, air and trees. The panchabhoota- the basic five elements need to be maintained in perfect balance, which shall keep the trees shining lush green and the Nature resplendent.
The producer of the programme is Smt. Sumitra Mohapatra and music has been composed by Prafulla
