Rich tributes were paid to prominent Urdu Poet and Educationist Saifi Sopori on his 1st Death Anniversary. In this connection, a function was organized at the Academy Head Quarters, Lal Mandi Srinagar which was attended by prominent Writers and Educationists. The function was presided over by Justice (Rtd.) Bashir Ahmad Kirmani, while Gh Nabi Masoodi Younger brother of Saifi Sopori; Secretary JKAACL Dr. Aziz Hajini was also in the presidium & Dr.Rafeeq Masoodi former Secretary of JK Academy and ADG DD who also happens the nephew of Late Saifi sopori.
In his welcome speech, Dr Aziz Hajini described Saifi Sopori as a towering Poet of Urdu Language who has contributed a lot to Urdu Poetry.
Mr Rafiq Raz former Director Radio Kashmir Srinagar and awarded writwr delivered SAIFI SOPIRI Extension Lecture under the topic "SHAR KAY MUHASIN O MUAAYIB"(MERITS AND DEMERITS OF A VERSE) which was followed by the discussions. Mr Gh Nabi Masoodi highlighted contribution of Saifi Sopori in various fields which include poetry and translation. Dr Rafiq Masoodi, Dr Shafaq Sopori, Dr Nazir Azad and Mr. Shahnaz Rashid also paid tributes to Saifi Sopori. In his presidential speech, Justice (Rtd.) Bashir Ahmad Kirmani paid tributes to Saifi Sopori for his immense contribution to Urdu literature. Among other people who were present on the occasion include Syed Zishan Fazil, Rukhsana Jabeen firmer director Radio Kashmir srinagar , G.R.Hasrat Gadda, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Syed Shabeeb Rizvi, Nelofar Naz Nehvi, Ali Ahmad Khan, Kachoo Asfandyar Khan IAS, Gh Rasool Azad KAS,Mushtaq Keni, Dildar Ashraf Shah, Mushtaq Sopori, Shafi Ahmad, Gulshan Badrani, Sarwar Bulbul, Maqbool Ferozi,Mushtaq Sopori, Yousuf Sameem.
Proceedings of the function were conducted by Saleem Salik, while Dr.Rafeeq Masoodi former secretary AACL and former ADG DOORDARSHAN and nephew of SAIFI SOPIRI presented Vote of thanks & praposed that this extension lecture be made an annual feature and inscribed in the yearly events of a acdemy in the name of SAIFI SOPORI & a special number of urdu SHEERAZA be published in the name of saifi sopori in next 6 months which was lauded in one voice by the presedim. He also assured the gathering that soon 20 unpublished books will be tried to be published.
