National Public Service Broadcasting Day was organized by BES Chennai Chapter on 12th November at Multi Track Auditorium, AIR, Chennai.
Dr. Sumanth Raman graced the occasion as Chief Guest and emphasisized the importance of public service through ALL INDIA RADIO & DOORDARSHAN.
Shri V Appakutty graced the occassion as Guest of Honour and spoke about the relevance of Public Services Broadcasting. In his address, he articulated the role played by AIR in bringing green revolution in 1960 and also 1971 Indo-Pakistan War in creating Bangladesh. He also advocated the role to be played in future regarding the empowerment of women.
The relevance of Public Service was brought to the fore by undersigned in todays' multifarious
delivery modes of reception by public by maintaining neutrality, simplicity etc. in coverage by AIR & DD.
On the occasion of NPSD , Chennai chapter of BES ( I) , two of the seniormost professionals of AIR & DD - one from Engineering & Programme , namely, Shri R T Chari, Chief Engineer (Retired) ( SZ) AIR & DD and Dr. V. Senapathy, DDG ( P) , DD Chennai were felicitated and honoured.
Shri Chari shared his journey through various phases in life in the department and re-lived those times with anecdotes. Similarly Shri Senapathy also reminisced the challenges in programming he had encountered in his journey in the department.
