AIR Hyderabad holds Walkathon to mark Public Service Broadcasting Day


Braving the early morning chill, nearly 125 health enthusiasts, including present and former employees of All India Radio, Hyderabad, participated in a 'Walkathon' at People's Plaza, Necklace Road, on Monday, a press release said.

According to officials from AIR, Hyderabad, November 12 is marked as the Public Service Broadcasting Day to commemorate the maiden visit of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi to All India Radio studios, Delhi, to address the refugees of partition in 1947.

The Station Director, AIR Hyderabad, Udaya Sankar, said AIR was following the philosophy of public service for the past eight decades and was working towards preserving, promoting and thereby, protecting Indian culture, its music, literature and drama. "We are serving public with value-based content in 23 languages in the country and with 7 languages in Hyderabad," he said.
