All India Radio (AIR) FM Rainbow, Panji,celebrates 25 years of serving Goa with their rich entertainment but the record goes to Lorna as FM Rainbow has played her songs every single day .In honor of AIR FM Rainbow's 25-year celebration, the Director of AIR FM Rainbow is featuring Goa's legendary singer Lorna Cordeiro in a Live Concert with Norman Cardoz and the Music Brigade, today, January 24, 2019 at Dr S Z Qasim Auditorium, National Institute of Oceanography, Dona Paula, 4 pm onward.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting opened with five stations around the country, out of which, AIR FM Rainbow Goa was established on January 24, 1994. It is an 18-hour broadcast channel with interviews of eminent personalities, different language, genres of music, coverage of national and international events and widespread over the social media.In its 25 years of existence, FM Rainbow has enriched Goa with its fascinating music in all the cultural languages of Goa – Konkani, Marathi, Hindi, English and Portuguese. They have celebrated their milestones with various programs in cultural fields of Regional, Classical and Western music.

The specialty of FM Rainbow lies behind the USP that is followed by a creative programming. There is a different RJ every single day, in a weekly routine. This benefits Rainbow tuners and keeps them out of boredom. It also creates an excitement of 'what's next'.Speaking about Lorna's association with FM Rainbow, the Head Program Executive, Savio Noronha, expresses, "There is not a single day that FM Rainbow has missed a song sung by Lorna."Noronha, who has spent 30 years with FM Rainbow, has seen the changes since 1994 to 2019, where the sound and records moved from analogue to digital, but the melodious voice of Lorna has remained the same through the recorded songs of her albums. Team FM Rainbow had dream of bringing Lorna since years and kept the special occasion of the 25th anniversary to honor Goa's famed singer on this special day.

Lorna began singing for legendary composer Chris Perry's band from the age of 15 and continued to do so till she turned 26. She was a popular Jazz singer in nightclubs and star hotels in Mumbai. She sang songs composed by Chris Perry. Through her work over the years, Lorna became Goa's living legend. The interesting fact that builds a connection with her relationship with FM Rainbow is that her songs have transcended three generations of fans. "Her combination with Chris Perry makes them one of the greatest timeless singers that India has ever produced," says Noronha. Over the years, people have enjoyed the tunes and lyrics of the songs sung by Lorna. These songs are sung time and again at different festivals, public gatherings and Goan weddings. One of her famous hits is 'Bebdo', which speaks about issues of a drunkard husband harassing his wife, in a casual funny manner. Every Goan around the world undoubtedly has at least one famous number of Lorna on their playlist. The catchy compositions of Chris Perry have opened ears and sparkled eyes around the world.

Lorna is in her 75th year of life. Today, on the Silver Jubilee of FM Rainbow, a tribute will be paid to Lorna with many surprises of the admiration people have for her. Lorna will also be interviewed live on stage. Apart from the main performances, Lorna's songs have been choreographed by Cecille Rodrigues, which will be performed on stage by various dance groups.Through the years, FM Rainbow has featured many artistes, giving them an opportunity to showcase their talent. In 2004, the station came out with a program called 'Night of the Fortnight', where Goan bands were tasked to develop and compose original music that would then be featured on FM Rainbow. FM Rainbow not only entertains people but helps Goans to explore their talents. In the years to come, they look forward to carrying the same values while also introducing new ideas.
