Zara Hat Ke - Exhibition of Paintings by Shri Neeraj Agarwal, Additional Director General (P), All India Radio, Mumbai

The life of any individual has many dimensions, however many people in middle age, particularly the government servants tend to develop monotony in their lives. During such occasions the other dimensions of our life, other than the routine office work brings in a breeze of freshness and happiness. This makes the individual recharged and increase his/her efficiency even in their office work.

Paintings by Shri Neeraj Agarwal, Additional Director General, All India Radio, Mumbai were exhibited at Mumbai Art Fair at Nehru Centre, Worli Mumbai from 11 - 13 October 2019.

Neeraj Agarwal had a creative inclination since childhood. He graduated as an Electronics and Telecommunications Engineer from Malviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur in the year 1987. After serving for a few years in the Rajasthan State Government he joined Indian Telecommunications Services in 1993. His bent towards art became more evident when his daughter started studying architecture. He began his artistic journey in the field of watercolor and gauche paintings around 5 years ago. However, he started formal training only a couple of years back from a very talented and unassuming teacher.

Growing up in Rajasthan, Neeraj was exposed to the tradition of miniature paintings, the accuracy and patience required to master the technique and create a beautiful piece of art. Through his art, he enjoys exploring cityscapes and nature. He engages with them both in terms of their formal composition as well as the minutest details. This attention to intricacy stems from his engineering background which has manifested itself in the form of precise drawing and thoughtful painting. Thus his art is almost a mélange of Rajasthani miniature painting technique and European landscape painting tradition.

Neeraj's work is an intersection between botany, landscape and architecture. His preoccupation with 'scapes' in various forms has been a significant and common thread through his oeuvre. This is his first exhibition. It brings together his works from the last two years that explore this theme of "-Scapes" through landscapes, cityscapes and the scapes (stems) of a flower.
